Crappy camera phone pic taken by Mrs 12th and cropped as she didn't know how to zoom in.
...That's supposed to say GO 51MON, but the S is a buggered-about with 6, not a five. So that's GO GIMON, then...
Tempted?
Am I fuck...
Besides <catty mode>, who thinks 'yeah, Go Simon! when they see a debadged three with a McDonalds straw exhaust? </catty mode>

Saw two misspaced plates on hatchbacks this week, one ended in 5 UEX attempting to say Sue, and another was L155 A something, attempting to say Lisa, presumably.

I saw 3 Evoques with misplaced spacing on Saturday alone. CRA16 W (he also managed an overtake that had the overtakee flashing his lights), JO51E MX and A8NN R.
I also saw an Audi TT RS with the plate RS 55 TTT.

77WP or something very similar. Lovely plate to own, I'm sure. But why the need to explain the fact that WP are your initials by having your name along the bottom of the plate?
It was on a black X6, though.

W21ES X
Which I assume is supposed to be Wales X based on the number of Welsh stickers on the car....

I'm playing spot the lowest number in Jersey today. Just spotted J604 on an old Octavia. The plate's probably worth more than the car!

Winner was J279 on a Golf R. Sorry I was rather bored on the bus journey back to the airport! I'll see how low I go in Guernsey next.

Best one I saw along those lines was C4MRU but it was in the days when you could get a 4 that looked like a Y. Then carrying on in the same vein - in my home town of Tenby: TE10NBY ( Oh - that's mine!)

When I lived on the Isle of Bute I was aware that a high % of cars had a plate that proclaimed the Island, eg someone at work had an ancient Punto with B14UTE. In their position I would've kept it quiet

I had the idea for TE 10 NBY (it had to be the 10 of course) not long after the current style plates were introduced - then after waiting 9 years, on the day the 10 plates were issued I forgot all about it until about 11pm - I was sure someone else would also have had the same idea, so was pleased to see it still for sale.
When it was on the car about 6 months later it turned out someone else did have the idea and of course found it wasn't available (and called me a bastard about six times for beating him to it!) so he settled for TE 11 NBY - not quite the same without the 10. He proudly told me he had got it before he was able to put in on a car - I told him, "I'll give you second place."
I did try and get AN12REW on the day it was issued with a view to selling it straight away (it was listed for something like £500), but it turns out getting a number as popular as that was nigh on impossible - the site was falling over itself for the first half of the day it was issued and you couldn't get through on the phone either.

10 BY would be a clever numberplate if you lived in Tenby but clearly would be in a different price bracket! The Cheltenham Judge sentences you to a week's confinement in Y8 ATE (near Bristol, so not too far away) I agree about how difficult it is to buy numberplates from the DVLA an the day of release. I failed to get through to the DVLA on the day the F1-20 plates were released in 2008 and I redialled repeatedly for the entire first hour of release from 8am to 9am. That evening I googled the plate I wanted, found it for sale at one of the numberplate companies, called them the next morning and negotiated a price that was below what I had been prepared to pay for the numberplate before the DVLA prices were released. I paid a premium but I felt that I would regret not having the plate and this would almost certainly be my only chance to buy it. (F6 DAN for anyone who doesn't know).

I hummed and hawed about getting H6BXR when I saw it, though I can't remember now if it was DVLA or one of the others; anyway, when I decided I did want it I found it was on a Porsche instead! A bit annoying, as H6 is the name of my engine. Just checked and it's on a Boxster. At least it's a grey one!

10 BY would be a clever numberplate if you lived in Tenby 10B would be even better - no doubt either would be very expensive! - mine was £300 which was pretty close to the limit of what I would pay for a plate (and really upset the other bloke I mentioned earlier - he guessed its value at £3000!) - especially as I already had H3 LOW which is on the Mini - bought back in 1990 in the first week the DVLA started doing personalized plates. T3NBY was never issued when T plates were current and was offered in a DVLA auction about 5 years ago - I bid up to £1200 with the intention of reselling it, but obviously the kind of people I had the idea might buy it had spotted it too - I know the bloke who bought it but not well enough to ask how much he paid.

Reminds me of that pair of numberplates on posh vehicles in central London. 2 BE and NOT 2B. 10 BE and NOT 10B? DVLA Auction Search lists T3 NBY as selling for £2600 in March 2012 Edit: Missed your H3 LOW. My H20 plate was likewise bought during that first week they were offered in October 1990. I'd recently started working and had been saving up for that very purpose!

Bess was run on 110 BAR before I bought her she was reverted to the original reg. That was what feels like prior to current history.

I'd recently started working and had been saving up for that very purpose! H3 LOW was a very quick decision - I was getting a new company car for 1st Jan 1991 (Calibra) and so was my MD - he was on the phone to the DVLA ordering a TVR number for his awaited 400SE and turned to me and said, "Do you want to get one for your car?" "Er, er? how much is H1 LOW?" "He says it's already gone" "OK, H10 LOW?" "He says H3 LOW is the same price?" "How much?" "£350" "I don't know, it's a bit much for a frivolity" "I'll lend you the money and pay me back £10 a week" "OK, let's go for it" He was always a top bloke when it came to cars.

Just seen X4 GDM on an X5. I presume that taste got the better of them (relatively) when they actually saw an X4......
