Finished early on Friday for the year at work. We went out for a meal at lunchtime, followed by a trip to a local fun centre- where they have arcade games, laser tag, axe throwing (which it turns out I’m decent enough at), mini golf and go karting. We all arrived and went straight to the go kart track.
I couldn’t tell you when I was last at one of these, but it was a lot of fun. Yes, they were slow, probably not even hitting 25mph, and the track was short, but it had rained, meaning there was more than a dab of oppo required. Sliding around the corners was a hoot, and having the skill and a kart that was slightly faster than the others meant I won the first race I was in, lapping one or two on the way and overtaking everyone o man the track. Great laugh to be honest. I need to get on a track more often. It’s been too long!

Axe throwing sounds like a wholesome game for kids to play.

Last year we did a zip wire at a place called adrenaline quarry, and were disappointed to find out that they only did two axe throwing sessions per day and we'd missed the start of the morning's one by five minutes. I loved their website's description of it:
We have no excuse whatsoever for this violent, hilarious, satisfying and ultimately senseless activity. Nobody needs to throw axes, there are no life lessons to be learned here. Axe throwing is not a skill that will serve you well later in life and the world will not be a better place for it.
On the upside it does tick a lot of boxes. There are the axes, for example. Black, yellow and sharp: what’s not to like? There’s the enticing, off-kilter blur as the axe spins to the target. Then payday: the solid, lethal, irreversible thump of metal on stump as the blade bites and you nail another bad guy. Perfect.
Only ever karted once as an adult and really enjoyed it, no idea how good I was (or otherwise) as we timed it to have the track to ourselves.

We went karting for our Christmas do 3 years back and, given that we had a professional racing driver and several ex kart racers in the ranks, I got absolutely reamed and consequently didn't enjoy it. Competition doesn't interest me and they took it too seriously.

Both activities sound like a right laugh. Future forum meet?
