Oddly enough, I've never seen The Italian Job.
Beautiful car, though...

Much better than the Diablo. I drove one of those in Riyadh, frightened me silly with a lack of vis and the locals running their slammed Blazers etc at lights to lights races during normal traffic. Not sure I ever got it out of third.

Hubba.
Where's that video of someone driving the Shah of Persia's old one through the snow up to St Moritz?

You were probably better off without if it involved the revolution. I saved that in Youtube and never tire of watching it. I love seeing cars used.

The Muira is absolutely beautiful. I've had the pleasure of sitting in the driver's seat of one. The view out across those curved wings is stunning and the tiny, thin rear screen with the V12 just behind it is just lovely. A drive would be the stuff dreams are made of.

Oddly enough, I've never seen The Italian Job. Ditto. Don't know the song either. I thought the car went off a cliff?

I thought it got blown up in a tunnel, after meeting a truck I think.

Oh yeah, I knew something went wrong. The tunnel thing makes sense, as they wouldn't have needed to destroy that expensive car.

IIRC it's the opening sequence. The guy is on a lovely mountain drive and enters a tunnel at speed and hits the bulldozer placed in the tunnel to get him. He and the mashed up car are then pushed off a cliff.

I actually bought a Matt Monro CD ready for the Alpine road trip which never happened a number of years ago. Makes me want to resurrect the plans.

What? I thought you were a film buff? I would very much consider myself one, but saw the end as a child and have not felt the need to fill in the blank! You have to watch it - I'd consider it in my top 20 films. It's a wonderful piece of 60s British film history. Great characters, some great lines.

I’m still in such shock that there are members of this forum that haven’t seen it in its entirety that I’ve crashed my car.
You’ve just cost me my insurance bonus!

Some of the great trivia I remember:
Michael Caine couldn't drive when he did the movie and is always seen being driven or getting out of a stationary car.
The Pakistani Ambassador's car actually was the Pakistani Ambassador's car.
The Mafia really helped create the traffic jam in Turin.
They nearly ran out of Mini's and BL wouldn't give them any free ones - FIAT offered as many free cars as they wanted if they used 500s instead of the Minis.

The Muira was always a 'want one' car whereas the later cars were a bit hot and cold.

Mrs. Sacamano bought the Matt Munro CD as well for summer days with the roof down on the 500. Not quite the same..
And her referring to me as "Camp Freddie" spoilt the ambience too.

No. I’ve known sons of members put through the whole interview process to join which I never had to do. Mind you there’s a 97% renew rate now with full member numbers whereas when I joined they were clearly desperate.
