Any recommendations? Quality just has to be good enough for assignments although suspect the print volume will be way greater than the odd bits and pieces of a normal home printer. I’m guessing the big cost is how often you have to replace the ink.

I have an Epson EcoTank ET2750. Rather than cartridges it has tanks which you fill with liquid ink; the benefits being longevity and cost saving. I have had the printer for about nine months and the tanks are still three quarters full. The print quality is good, too.

So s cartridges are where printer people make their money (not the up front price of the printer), how do Epson possibly make that work? Re the OP, I've been an HP man for years and years. But to avoid the cartridge costs I use Amazon's finest instead. No issues so far.

I don't remember it if we did.
I downgraded from a Brother Laser to a HP inkjet. It's reasonable on cartridges and quality is fine. I enjoy the duplex printing and scanning. It saves a massive amount of time.

From personal experience I'd recommend Canon. Scan over wifi to your phone as well as laptop or desktop, print wirelessly from your phone too. Ink cartridges aren't that unreasonably priced, are readily available and the "XL" sizes seem to go on (not quite) for ever
